Can two Rh-positive parents have an Rh-negative child?+
Yes, if both parents are heterozygous (carry both positive and recessive negative alleles), there is a 25% chance the child will inherit two negative alleles and be Rh-negative.
What is Rh Incompatibility?+
If a mother is Rh-negative and the baby is Rh-positive (inherited from the father), the mother's immune system may create antibodies that attack the baby's blood cells. This is usually prevented with a RhoGAM shot.
