Frequently Asked Questions — Privacy & Metadata Sanitizer
Are my files uploaded to any server?+
Absolutely not. All processing happens entirely in your browser using the Canvas API and ArrayBuffer. Your files never leave your device. We don't have any servers that receive your image data.
Which metadata fields are considered "high risk"?+
GPS coordinates are the highest risk as they reveal the exact location where a photo was taken. Next are capture timestamps, device information (which can be used for fingerprinting), and software tags. The Privacy Score reflects this hierarchy of risk.
Does Canvas API reduce image quality when stripping EXIF?+
JPEG is re-encoded at 95% quality (0.95) from the Canvas — visually indistinguishable from the original. PNG files are always exported lossless. The tradeoff is a minor increase or decrease in file size depending on the original compression.
