How accurate is the Navy body fat method?+
The US Navy formula has a margin of error of ±3-4% compared to DEXA scan. It's more accurate than BMI but less accurate than hydrostatic weighing or BodPod. It's the best option when only a tape measure is available.
What body fat percentage is healthy?+
ACSM healthy ranges: Men: 14-17% (fitness), 18-24% (acceptable). Women: 21-24% (fitness), 25-31% (acceptable). Below 4% for men and 10% for women is considered below essential fat and poses health risks.
