Frequently Asked Questions — Vitamin D Calculator

How much sun do you need for vitamin D?+

For fair skin (Type I-II) at midday in summer: 10–15 minutes of arms and face exposure produces 1,000 IU. Darker skin (Type V-VI) needs 60–90 minutes for the same amount. UV index must be ≥3 for meaningful synthesis.

What are signs of vitamin D deficiency?+

Common symptoms: fatigue, bone/muscle pain, frequent illness, depression, and slow wound healing. The only reliable test is a blood 25(OH)D test. Deficiency defined as <20 ng/mL (<50 nmol/L).
